Projects
Tufts Degree Programs
At Tufts, I design and develop courses in the Online MS in Data Science, Online MS in Computer Science, Online MS in Nutrition, and Online Master of Public Health programs. I also designed and developed courses in the post-baccalaureate certificate in computer science (designed for students with bachelor's degrees in unrelated fields who were interested in graduate study in computer science) and courses that needed to be adapted for emergency remote learning during the Spring and Summer 2021 semesters.
Non-Degree Tufts Programs
Certificate Programs
I worked on the Online Graduate Certificate programs at the Friedman School of Nutrition.
CourseraÂ
I worked on the Business Analytics for Managers MasterTrack certificate program with faculty at the Tufts Gordon Institute. This program was designed for working professionals who wanted to brush up on their data analytics skills in order to communicate effectively with different functional groups in their organizations (finance, marketing, product development, etc). The MasterTrack is a standalone credential, but learners can also receive an elective credit for it if they apply to Tufts' MS in Engineering Management. We also created a mini-course on Hypothesis Testing with Python and Excel as part of our program development.
Graduate School Projects
I'm not able to offer direct samples from my current work at Tufts, but I can share samples from other projects if requested.
Workplace Feedback: Twine Game
I learned about mastery-oriented feedback during a course on universal design for learning, and I was really interested in how I could apply the concept to adult learners in the workplace. I created a Twine game with multiple scaffolded scenarios to introduce mastery-oriented feedback to new managers and give them opportunities to practice it. The Twine game can stand on its own and includes a printable at the end with the learner's responses that they could share with their company or discuss with their own manager. If I had more time, I could add more scenarios or move the content into a learning management system.
VR Food Systems Activity
For one of my electives, I cross-registered into a course on food and faith at Harvard Divinity School. My final project for that course was an instructional design plan for an activity on food systems that could be used in youth groups of any religious affiliation, or scout groups. I was studying the affordances of virtual reality in education at the time, so I wanted to design something that included VR or immersive video.
Other Projects
Accessible Documents Video
I created a voiceover video with three quick tips for workers to make their documents more accessible. Getting started in digital accessibility can be intimidating, and I know it can be a struggle to get organization-wide buy-in for accessibility projects. I wanted to demonstrate the relevance of digital accessibility to a broad scope of roles with a short video that the learner could engage with during the workday.
Digital Fabrication
I've dabbled in some digital fabrication projects over the year (laser cutters/engravers, 3D printing, vinyl cutting). I made some fidget toys with dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) acronyms on them for some of my social worker friends, and I made a mapping activity where learners can apply transparent overlays to a map of Cambridge to explore how the climate crisis might impact their neighborhoods. This hasn't been a part of my professional career, but it's fun to move from the digital world to the physical world every once in a while!
